This painting of Wisteria for me was an attempt at finding freedom within structure. The dark, heavily inked branch represents the grounded, disciplined foundation. From this rigid anchor flows the soft, vibrant cascade of the blossoms and the wandering, unscripted curls of the tendrils. And yet, flowers' grace and flexibility are only made possible by a strong, enduring root.
