Double Happiness (Kaisho)

Variations (using various types of script)

In Asian philosophy, good things should come in pairs. One "Joy" is a personal state; two "Joys" represent a shared life, a partnership, or a stroke of luck so big it cannot be contained in a single character. This painting takes the character (Joy), doubles it into , and uses the "Way of the Brush" to turn a linguistic symbol into a visual prayer for partnership and multiplied fortune.
